Life or Death
Deuteronomy 30:19 says, "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!"
If choosing life and following God seem to be the better choice, why do we inadvertently or intentionally end up choosing sin instead? We may be aware of its consequence — death — but we may be ignorant of what it really is.
We must understand that sin is anything and everything that is committed against God. It is missing the mark and it is certainly costly. It has the power to enslave you and it begets more sin.
But don't fret. Despite these, we must also remember how God responds to us whenever we struggle with sin — with grace and instruction, truth and conviction, loving discipline, and warning.
God gives us a way out. We can confess our sins to Him and repent. Remember, no sin and failing can separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8:38-39)
